Why Is Winter So Tough on Your Car?

Winter can be particularly harsh on vehicle paintwork. Wet roads, dirt, road grime and salt can quickly build up across the lower areas of your vehicle. With colder temperatures and fewer opportunities to properly wash your car, it's easy for contamination to accumulate.


Your ceramic coating provides an important layer of protection between your vehicle's paintwork and the elements, but keeping that coating clean and properly maintained will help you get the best possible performance from it.


Does a Ceramic Coating Need Maintenance?

Yes, although perhaps not in the way you might think. Having a ceramic coating doesn't mean it needs to be reapplied every year. A quality long-term coating is designed to remain on the vehicle for years. However, contaminants can gradually build up on top of the coating.


Things such as tar, iron fallout, road grime and mineral deposits can become bonded to the surface and aren't always removed through a normal maintenance wash. Eventually, this build-up can affect the slickness and water behaviour you associate with a freshly ceramic-coated car. This can sometimes lead owners to think their coating has stopped working when, in reality, it may simply need a thorough decontamination.

What's Included in Our Annual Ceramic Coating Maintenance?

Our maintenance detail costs £264 and gives the vehicle a comprehensive clean and decontamination before refreshing the protection.

The process includes:

  • All bodywork thoroughly and safely washed and decontaminated using a range of specialist chemicals and techniques
  • Wheels, wheel arches and door shuts thoroughly cleaned
  • Vehicle safely dried
  • Whole vehicle treated with ceramic sealant
  • Rain repellent applied to all exterior glass surfaces
  • Glass cleaned inside and out
  • Tyres and plastic arch liners dressed
  • Exhaust tips and chrome polished

The result is a thoroughly cleaned and refreshed vehicle that's ready to take on the months ahead.

What Does Ceramic Sealant Do?

Following the decontamination process, we treat the vehicle with ceramic sealant. This provides an additional boost to the existing protection while restoring that slick, hydrophobic behaviour that makes a coated vehicle so satisfying to maintain. Water beads and runs from the surface more readily, dirt is easier to remove, and you'll leave with the vehicle looking freshly detailed again.
